Cameron Highlands

Romantic images of Tea plantations, mountains and touches of Colonial England were expected on my first visit in September 05.  I spent a week in the Highlands staying in a charming  wooden guest house Twin Pines at Tana Rata the small town at the heart of this tourist centre

I must make special Mention of Twin Pines; Owned by an Indian Doctor and his wife this 60 year old wooden house was the friendliest of all the places I stayed in Malaysia. You won't find luxury here; but a place of old world charm and friendliness. I stayed longer than intended; just because of the people I met there!

A short trek  in  the National Park Of Taman Negara  in the centre of Peninsula Malaysia.

 Taman Negara rainforest

I arrived in Taman Negara after a drive direct from Tan Rata in Carmon Highlands It took the best part of a day to get there on a new road which has been blasted through the mountains. My first impressions when a arriving at the village were not that positive. The place seemed to have no real character and the chalets where I was dropped off near were OK but I really couldn't be fussed to find somewhere better so checked in for a night.

Once I'd hit the river with its floating restaurants I enjoyed the view and the intense rain while having dinner. I signed up for a tour the following morning with a few others. I met Jonathon and Janus  who were on the trip with Michelle an Irish girl.

We set off the following morning in a small wooden outboard with baggage swathed in plastic bags to protect against the water.
