The Festival site at Fort Canning Park is in a great location 15mins walk from The Cosy Corner guest house my home for the 5 days in Singapore

By comparison with WOMAD Reading; which is I have been to 9 times; WOMAD Singapore it is a quite small affair. The main stage is on a hill below the Fort Canning Arts centre. Very colonial building and lovely surroundings. The site is a former British graveyard with gravestones fixed to the old red  brick walls. The Fort Canning Arts Centre Is very 1920s in style and was used as music workshop stages with the food stalls on the plaza that surrounds it.

Drums in abundance.
The festival got off to a great start with Drummers from Sri Lanka bands from Algeria, Australia, France and Israel. Finished up with The Dholl Foundation Insane drummers from Punjab (west London) Talking about drummers it was very much a drumming day as Billy Cobham Probably the worlds best Jazz percussionist was also playing.

Ravibandhu Ensemble              Dholl Foundation                     Bill  Cobham
To me the highlight were the Sri Lankan drummers playing informally by the Food stalls

Here are a few photos taken during the weekend or 26th Aug 2005
