Australia
If you are looking for a "big country" experience Australia has more than enough to last a lifetime.
I first visited Australia as a kid, on a family visit to Adelaide in 1968. I was fascinated by what little I saw of the country then and wished to come back and see the real Outback and travel by train across the desert.
It took a few decades before returning in 2010 when I took a 4Wd adventure from Adelaide to Alice Springs. The experience was fascinating and not always comfortable. I saw so much remoteness as well as some of the small outback settlements and old towns which were abandoned due to the harsh inhospitable climate.
2016 and I took a soft adventure on the Indian Pacific Railway from Perth To Sydney via Adelaide. Crossing Australia from the Indian ocean to the Pacific was a very long standing travel ambition and combined with my first visit to Sydney was two things off my Bucket List at once!
Here are shots from the Indian Pacific Railway and Sydney.
