Nepal Festival Tours April 2015 & April 2016

The tour in April 2015 is a trial tour based on my visit in October 2014. Due to the investigative nature of this tour the itinerary will be flexible.
Outline Itinerary
We will be Based in Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley for 5 days for Ghaijatra or Cow Festival. Our hotel overlooks Durbar Sguare to get an elevated view of the action.
The Gaijatra Festival is held in Celebration of the Cow, where bereaved families parade a cow or child dressed as one. There will be masked dances with outlandish costumes and music all week.
Most of the activities are in the evenings, so we will be visiting the sights around Kathmandu during the day. It will be a fascinating insight into Hindu culture and fun to watch too.
One of the many highlights being Pashuputinath on the Sacred Bhagmati river. Sadhus and Hindus come from all over Asia to visit the temple and cremate their deceased relatives. Its an incredible and unforgettable experience.
Our Photo trek will take in some of the spectacular scenery that the Annapurna Area has to offer.
We take a 6 day trek, with almost endless photo opportunities of the spectacular landscapes and people.
We visit Ghandruk and trek via Poon hill to Tatopani hot springs. We only walk a few hours each day to give ample time to enjoy the environment. Walking will be steep at times; but we will be on well marked trails with many villages to enjoy. Walking will be a maximum of 4 hours per day, to give ample time for photography. We will arrange for porters to carry baggage .

Tour price for the 2016 tour is to be confirmed at approx $2500 Land only price with all land transport guiding, accommodation and flights from Pokhara and to Kathmandu. It is too early a this stage to give a fixed price as the itinerary is only provisional that this stage.

- Note: this is not a luxury tour; accommodation will be in locally owned guest houses with clean comfortable en- suite rooms. Accommodation in the villages on trek will be very basic but clean with shared twin rooms and outside WCs and showers.
