PHOTO EQUIPMENT
Its hard work carrying too much gear on the hills, so Its best to keep Photo kit down to the basics.
Its hard work carrying too much gear on the hills, so Its best to keep Photo kit down to the basics.
- A DSLR or mirrorless camera with lens range covering 18mm to 200mm for APS or 24-200 full Frame.
- Take a wide lens if you have it. I use a 12-24 for FF and would not be without it.
- A fast prime like a 35 or 50mm F 1.4 or F1.8 will be best for the night shooting sessions.
- Leave your heavy tripod behind; take a monopod instead as it can be useful as a walking pole as well (I will take one tripod to use for time lapse photography and video)
- Take charger and spare batteries.
- A second Camera, compact or lighter DSLR if you feel it necessary. Don't forget that carrying 2 Pro DSLRs and F 2.8 lenses is going to be hard work.
- Flashgun or LED video light might be useful but not necessary
- A lightweight laptop or iPad will be useful as Internet will be available in some lodges.
- Lightroom or Photoshop are recommended too for the optional photo editing sessions.
