PHILIPINES
It took many years; living in Southeast Asia, before I finally got round to visiting the Island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Its capital, Manila is a vast metropolis of 15million with a Spanish colonial heart. I hired a motorbike for a tour of Northern Luzon. This proved to be spectacular with mountain roads impressive towns and cities with landscapes to die for. I really did not want to go anywhere else, I enjoyed it so much.
Highlights were the spectacular city of Baguio, The Ancient Spanish capital, of Vigan and Sagada with its hanging graves. I was lucky enough to see the amazing terraces of Banue after unseasonal rain. It was not lucky for the locals; who had to endure a massive cyclone which hit the island a week more so before I arrived.
