VIETNAM: HANOI AND THE NORTH
Cambodia's near neighbour Vietnam is one of the most diverse in South East Asia. The climate varies from the hot tropical south to the cool highlands to the north. The land is flat along the Mekong Delta; but a spine of mountains extend 1500 kms to the north. North of Hanoi the spectacular karst landscape extending into China is nothing short of breathtaking. The people are generally friendly; though communication outside the major cities can be hard.
The urban environment of Hanoi is one of the most fascinating in Asia. Traffic can be chaotic and noisy; but that reflects the nature of the people of the north.
